Oregon Estate Planning Overview

The phrase "estate planning" refers broadly to the practice of preparing for the orderly transfer of your property and the payment of your debts upon your death, as well as for the care of any minor children.

If you die without an estate plan (intestate), Oregon law dictates how your property will be disposed of, who will handle your estate and who the guardians of your children will be regardless of your preferences. The disposition of property may also be delayed. Even if you don't have a large estate, an estate plan will give you the peace of mind to know that your affairs are in order and that your family will be taken care of.
